Why Every Christian Woman Must Read the Bible

Hey friend!

Can I tell you a story?

Nearly 18 years ago, God graciously allowed me to be born to incredible parents who love Jesus with everything they have. My dad is a pastor, which means I’ve been in church my whole life and I’ve pretty much heard preaching since I was born. I don’t want to make light of that, because being in a Christian family is a blessing that so many kids will never experience.

But y’know what? Being a pastor’s daughter doesn’t make me an expert on the Bible. It doesn’t mean I’ve always been a Christian or loved godly disciplines. In fact, I never really studied the Bible for myself until I was almost 15. I mean, I loved reading the Bible and highlighting verses in family devotions, but I never really dug in on my own. Not until one chilly morning when reading my Bible with a cup of hot coffee in hand was the most appealing thing I could think of. Ever since that day, God has continually drawn me back to Him each morning for a time of quietness and learning. And the Book I often took (and still do at times) for granted, has become my greatest treasure.

The more I grow and watch the fallen world around me, the more I realize how vital a walk with God is. How vital His unchanging Word is. But I’ve also noticed that we often fail to take advantage of God’s Word. We let our faith get watered down by emotion and what we THINK God is like. And that’s a scary reality.

As Christians, we can’t just pick out a couple life verses and depend on our intuition to fill in the gaps. But…why?

Because the Bible is God’s love letter to humankind.

I don’t know about you, but that blows my mind. The Creator of the universe chose to bend down and breathe life into each page, for us! The Bible is 100% true, 100% reliable, and 100% driven by God’s love for our depraved selves. So what treasures did He store away in this precious book? Why do we need it so desperately? Here’s a small list of reasons I came up with…

  1. When you were talking about even though your father was a pastor, but you really didn’t get into the Bible until you were 15. It reminded me of what my dad would tell his children. I can’t know God for you and your mom can’t know him for you. You have to know him for yourself. His words were so true ! Beautiful job!!! May God continue to bless and keep you!!
